Show Format

Legends of the Hidden Temple is one of the most action packed game shows ever, being that it is such action packed there are many different rules and challenges throughout the game, I hope my Show Format will help you understand the show to the fullest Extent!

Legends is broken up into 4 different segments:

Segment 1: Moat Crossing

Legends of the hidden Temple starts out with 12 kids ranging in age from 10-15, they are divided up into teams of 2 which makes up the 6 teams Red Jaguars, Blue Barracudas, Green Monkeys, Orange Iguanas, Purple Parrots, and the Silver Snakes, each team consits of a Boy and a Girl. The moat is a large pool which players need to cross, how they cross ranges anywhere from: Swinging on a Rope to Balancing on a Platform, the goal is to make it across and hit the gong, the last 2 teams remaining are eliminated from the game.

Segment 2: The Steps of Knowledge

The remaining 4 teams then listen to a Legend from a Giant Talking Stone Head named "Olmec" the Legends can be about a famous person, or a special object it is important for the contestants to listen to the Legend because their memory would be tested. At the end of the Legend Olmec tells the contestants where the artifact is located in the temple. The Contestants are then asked questions about what they just heard, the questions were multiple choice. If the team correctly answered the question, they would move down to the next level, if they were wrong or they ran out of time (3 seconds) another team would get a chance to answer, the first 2 teams to answer 3 questions correctly advanced to the next round, while the other 2 teams were eliminated.

Segment 3: The Temple Games

For the temple games the remaining 2 Teams faced off against each other whoever had the most "Pendants of life" at the end of the 3 games would to to the Temple.

Temple Game Pendant Values:
Game 1: Half Pendant
Game 2: Half Pendant
Game 3: Full Pendant

For the first 2 challenges 1 player from each team would compete, for the final game all 4 player compeited.

The varity of the games was HUGE! there were many different games that were played, which could be divided up into 6 catigorys: Collecting, Racing, Survival, Memory, Luck, and Distance. Each game lasted 60 seconds (there were some games that were un-timed however)

If at the end of all the Temple Games there was a tie for pendants of life a "Final Question" would be asked, the question was about the Legend and the first team to hit the Gong and give the correct answer would go to the Temple.

Segment 4: The Temple

The temple was the best part of the show, which featured 12 different rooms, each room had an objective which the teams had to complete to move onto the next. First Olmec would describe Objectives of each room, the goal was to reach the artifact which was in a specific room in the alloted 3 minutes. During the 3 minutes there were many locked doors and dead-ends also were the dreaded temple guards who were assigned to protect 3 specific rooms, if a player entered one of those rooms the Temple Guard would jump out and capture the player, if the player had a full pendant of life they could keep going but if they had half a pendant or no pendant they were taken out of the temple and it was their partners turn (if their partner had already gone the Run was over) For prizes, the team won a prize for getting in, they would win another prize if they reached the artifact, if the team could bring the artifact out of the temple in 3 minutes or less they would win the Grand Prize, which was usually a trip to Space Camp, or a Cruise!

Over the Shows history there were 120 episodes and 30 wins, 45 different rooms, and over 1000 contestants. Legends ran from 1993 to 1995, the show was abruptly canceled in 1995, revisions of the show are not expected and unfortunatly probably will never happen. Today you can watch Legends of Nick Gas which many cable companies offer!
